Photo of Azalea aka Rhododendron Red Ruffle (Rhododendron Azalea)
Azalea aka Rhododendron simsii Red Ruffle - A very attractive mid sized Azalea shrub with excellent dark green evergreen foliage, and a huge explosion of 3" diameter light red / violet colored blooms. Blooms are superb throughout the spring, but also well known to re-bloom again in the fall. The big distinguishing feature is the frilly "ruffled" edges all over each & every bloom. Very formal, elegant looking blooms indeed. Foliage is extremely dark, with newer growth being a lighter shade, and maturing into the very dark hunter green color. Family : Ericaceae
