Photo of Camellia Winter's Star (Camellia)
Camellia sasanqua Winter's Star - This upright shrub would make a great specimin plant or would do well to be planted in a mixed shrub beds or boarder. Single, violet-pink blooms appear over a period of four to six weeks in autumn, creating a stunning contrast to the dark green, glossy foliage. New leaf growth in the spring is an interesting burgundy color which turns into glossy dark green as the leaves grow and age. Pink flushed buds open to fragrant, semi-double snowy white flowers from October through November and make wonderful cut flowers. After flowering lighly prune plant if necessary to improve appearance. Moderate growing; reaches 10 ft. tall and nearly as wide. Family : Theaceae
