Cornus mas Elegantissima - It is a cultivated variety of Cornus mas, a shrub belonging to the Cornaceae family. It is often used for garden decoration because of its decorative yellow branches in winter and its variegated foliage of white and green in summer. This strain is very easy to grow and maintain, and can be pruned to be kept at a smaller height if needed. This plant prefers well-drained soils and sunny to semi-shaded locations. It is a hardy, disease and insect resistant plant, and can be used for a variety of purposes, such as creating hedges, mass planting, or as an accent plant. In addition to its decorative interest, Cornus mas is also known to produce edible fruits in autumn which can be used to make jam or liqueur.
