Ipomoea purpurea Grandpa Ott's - A twining vine that is a tender perennial with large, funnel shaped flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Flowers open in the morning and last only one day. Plants bloom mid-summer to early fall. They can be planted on trellises, arbors, lattice or chain-link fences or used as a ground cover. Plants do best in full sun with moderate moisture and well-drained soils. It is an heirloom variety with flowers that are dark purple with a red star and white throat. Family: Convolvulaceae
