Liquidambar styraciflua Slender Silhouette - Medium-size to large tree with a upright narrowly columnar crown, remaining slender even when mature. At an estimated age of 30 years, the original tree was only about 3 m wide. The boughs grow straight up and the thinner twigs also grow vertically. Glossy, dark green leaves vaguely resemble a maple leaf. Fall colour is a brilliant mixture of yellow to orange-redThey have no corky fissures. The leaf has no real autumn colour, but it sometimes turns yellow. The inconspicuous flowers are followed by spiky capsules that persist in the winter. Family : Hamamelidaceae
