Malus domestica Encore - Origin: Berkshire UK 1906 - Large-sized fruit. Round to oblong shape. Distinctly flattened at base and apex and fairly distinctly ribbed. The background skin colour is bright green becoming greenish yellow. Irregular patches of dark green undertone. May be one quarter or more flushed brownish red. Broad, broken red stripes. Creamy white flesh, juicy and somewhat soft. A strongly acidic culinary apple if used early, but mellows with keeping to make a creamy baked apple with a rich flavour. Encore is self-sterile and would require a pollinator to produce a crop. A tree of moderate vigour. Good cropper. Family: Rosaceae
