Photo of Malus James Grieve (Apple tree)
Malus domestica James Grieve - This is a savoury, juicy apple with strong acidity at first, which then mellows as the fruit matures during September, but the flesh softens soon thereafter. When picked early, it makes a sweet and delicate stewed apple, but then can be used as a dessert apple. It is considered a good apple because it is exceptionally tasty, it produces fruit every year, it is disease-resistant, and it is a good polleniser for other apples. Season of use is from September to October, and longer. Cooking and Eating Apple. Large pale green fruits have an attractive flushed with red stripes and excellent crisp flavor. It is also a good apple for making apple juice. Self Fertile. Foliage leaves are green. Height and Width: 6 - 8 m. Family: Rosaceae
