Photo of Malus Wellant (Apple tree)
Malus domestica Wellant - These apples are medium to large in size and are oblong to oblate in shape. The smooth, matte skin has a yellow to green base and is covered in dark red striping and blush. There are also many light tan lenticels or pores covering the surface of the skin, and some russeting may be present. The flesh is cream to pale yellow, very juicy, and crunchy with a few small light brown seeds encased in a central fibrous core. Wellant apples are aromatic and have a sweet flavor with a subtle tart aftertaste. Family: Rosaceae
