Photo of Physocarpus Little Devil aka Donna May (Ninebark)
Physocarpus opulifolius Little Devil aka Donna May - This exciting improvement in ninebark has a compact upright spreading habit and fine textured, dark burgundy foliage that sets it apart from other ninebark. It is also mildew resistant, so it doesn't turn into a powdery white eyesore in your garden or shrub border. Clusters of small purplish-white flowers in June contrast nicely with the burgundy foliage. The small serrated lobed leaves turn purple in fall. It produces red capsules from early to mid fall. The peeling tan bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape. Family: Rosaceae
