Physocarpus opulifolius Little Devil aka Donna May - This exciting improvement in ninebark has a compact upright spreading habit and fine textured, dark burgundy foliage that sets it apart from other ninebark. It is also mildew resistant, so it doesn't turn into a powdery white eyesore in your garden or shrub border. Clusters of small purplish-white flowers in June contrast nicely with the burgundy foliage. The small serrated lobed leaves turn purple in fall. It produces red capsules from early to mid fall.
