Photo of Vaccinium Elliotti (highbush blueberry)
Vaccinium corymbosum Elliott - It is noted for producing fruit in very late season. In northern areas, it is considered to be a fall bearing plant. It typically grows to 4-6’ tall. Waxy, bell-shaped, white flowers bloom in late spring. Flowers are followed by medium/large, tangy blueberries that ripen in very late season. Ovate, medium green leaves (to 3” long) turn attractive shades of yellow-orange to red and purple in fall. Reddish stems can be attractive in winter. Family: Ericaceae
