Photo of Wisteria Longwood Purple (American Wisteria)
Wisteria frutescens Longwood Purple - A relatively rarely grown deciduous twining vine that flowers weeks later in the season than do the more familiar wisterias. The dense pendulous grape-like clusters of fragrant lilac-purple flowers appear sporadically through much of summer and early fall. The flower clusters are smaller and more hidden by foliage. Green bean-like fruits follow the flowers. The foliage is bright green and lush. Family: Fabaceae
