Photo of Brassica Tatsoi (pak choi oriental vegetable)
Brassica rapa Tatsoi - A popular oriental vegetable. This specialty is a non-heading mustard that is very similar in flavor to bok choi. Leaves and petioles are tender with a mild of mustard flavor for salads, stir fries etc. Leaves are spoon-shaped and dark green color. Petioles are shorter than most pak choi. In warm temperatures, the plant grows erect while in cold temperatures, the plant forms compact thick rosette of leaves growing close to the ground. Easy to grow, quick maturing. Full-size heads will grow to about 8 - 10 inches tall. Spread depends on whether the leaves are flattened or upright, but figure about 12 inches per plant. Family: Brassicaceae
