About Physocarpus Andre (Ninebark)

Physocarpus opulifolius Andre - A Czech introduction valued for distinctly red new foliage maturing to a lovely shade of burgundy red with light purple-violet hues. The stems are red, too, and the reverse of the leaves is almost green which distinguishes Andre from other red-leaved ninebark varieties. The shrub looks beautiful especially when wind blows into its foliage revealing the reverse colour. In late spring appear dense corymbs of pinkish white, melliferous flowers, soon followed by attractive purple red fruit that lasts until autumn. Family : Rosaceae
