Photo of Pinus Angell (jack pine conifer)
Pinus banksiana Angell - It is an upright, dwarf cultivar of jack pine with an irregular, sprawling growth habit, slightly twisted branchlets, and nice kelly-green needles that are somewhat shorter than those typical of the species. Rate of growth is 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm) per year, more outward than upward. With a great deal of effort, 'Angell' can be trained into an upright form, but it's likely that a stake would need to be a permanent feature to achieve the effect. Family: Pinaceae
